DESCRIPTION

 

We are in search of a dynamic candidate who will effectively teach students the assigned curriculum. The candidate will also work with students to develop skills that will contribute to students developing as mature, able and responsible men and women.  The candidate will be responsible for planning, delivering and evaluating instruction based upon specific goals and objectives established by King William County Public Schools and Virginia Standards of Learning.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Must have a collegiate or postgraduate professional license or be eligible for a provisional license with endorsement(s) in the designated content area.

  2. Teaching experience at the designated academic level and Master's Degree preferred.    

  3. Comprehensive knowledge of current practices, techniques, and methods of teaching; the principles of educational testing and principles and methods of remedial education.
  4. Ability to apply age appropriate, modern methods and principles of education to students.
  5. Excellent written and oral communication skills.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

 

Immediate Supervisor:     Principal

Contract:                        10 month (200 days)

Salary Scale:                  Instructional

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

  1. Participate in curriculum review and design.

  2. Implement a variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives.

  3. Diagnose and evaluates student abilities and progress in a timely manner.

  4. Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.

  5. Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.

  6. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.

  7. Provide progress reports as required to student and parents. 

  8. Effectively implement district initiatives.

  9. Effectively collaborate with department and grade level teachers.

  10. Participate in professional development opportunities.

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS  

  1. Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
  2. Attend meetings and performs duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
  3. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  4. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations.
  5. Serve on committees as assigned.
  6. Remain current on instructional practices in education.  (e.g. instructional technology)
